Glasgow Street Pastors has now been going for around 6 months. Next Saturday will be my 7th Saturday night as a Street Pastor. There are so many positive things I could say about the initiative and how well it has been received by everyone we meet on the streets. However, at the heart of all this is Jesus' command to follow Him and in doing so become more like Him. Street Pastors provides a wonderful opportunity to put this into practice. Saturday nights are a heady mix of providing practical help to people in distress and demonstrating the love of God in words and deeds. In my last night out, we were offered the opportunity to pray with people around half a dozen times. I've more opportunity to share my faith on my nights out than at any other times. My non-Christian friends and family are curious - another opportunity to spread the Good News. I could go on... Jesus didn't just sit in the Temple or Synagogue teaching. He got out there and mixed with people. Street Pastors is a God-given opportunity to do the same. I'm so glad I volunteered. PS. Training starts in September for the next intake of Street Pastors. This will train people for both Glasgow and Paisley. Do you fancy it? Clare,
